Spike Touch City Selects Teams

The Canadian volleyball system is very specific about timelines for athlete development and uses age -class based rules and offers provincial team programs for certain age groups. Spike Touch would like to provide the opportunity for younger athletes to experience elite training and both inter-provincial and international competition.

Spike Touch would like to introduce our Spike Touch City Selects Team programs! This will be an elite program in the summer for athletes in the U14-U15 age classes to train and compete with open volleyball rules (5-1 systems, liberos, overhand passing on serves, etc.). This will give a broader range of athletes an elite training and international competition experience and will introduce them to the identification process to the next level as well. We will have Spike Touch City Selects Teams in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Oshawa, Winnipeg, and Atlantic Canada.

Spike Touch City Selects Teams Program (Summer 2025)

  • Spike Touch will put together two teams of U14-15 female (24 players) in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Oshawa, and Atlantic Canada.
  • These teams would travel and compete in the US All- Star Championships in Madison, Wisconsin
  • Spike Touch will hold a Selection Camp with 48 athletes.
  • Camp would be designed to get players introduced to the next level of volleyball (5-1 system, playing with a libero, etc.), which would prepare them to compete at the US Tournament, as well as moving forwards with their club teams in the following season.
  • Players would have two training sessions per day.
  • All Selection Camp players will receive a full clothing package.
  • At the end of the camp, the City Selects Team coaches will select two teams of 12 athletes, and those teams and athletes would continue training teams would train to prepare for the tournament.
  • Those two teams would then travel from their home city to meet up with all the other Spike Touch City Select Teams from across the country in Madison.
  • After completing the tournament, all teams would then travel home together to their home cities.
  • Players could be identified through Spike Touch Showcases, Online Applications, identification camps or coach identification/ recommendations.
